Introduction to Teechers

The play Teechers written by John Godber and was set in 1980s, this play contains Humor and irony in order to convey political and social message.
The play was written for mainly three actors but can be played with 20 actors because it contains 20 different characters. The play was set during a recession and period of austerity, it's talks about the cut to public services such as ; NHS,welfare state , schools etc.
 The play subtly talks about the state of education under Thatcherite Britain, things like ;

  • Lack of resources.  
  • Lack of opportunities for young people growing up in a working class area. 
  • Lack of funding. Etc.
in order to convey strong messages to the audience.the play is also a way for the society to come together and enjoy the play regardless their social status.
